The season finale delivers a breathtaking climax. Outside the walls, the "Fox River Eight" are hunted by massive law enforcement units. Abruzzi takes revenge on T-Bag by chopping off his hand with an axe, leaving T-Bag behind. The remaining escapees run through fields to reach an airstrip, only to see their getaway plane take off without them. A routine PI task goes wrong, causing a lockdown that threatens to expose Michael's work. To avoid detection, Michael has to cause a full-blown riot. The escape is officially executed. Michael leads the inmates—Lincoln, Sucre, T-Bag, Abruzzi, C-Note, Tweener, Haywire, and Manche Sanchez—through the psych ward and into the infirmary. Sara makes the critical choice to leave the infirmary door unlocked. While Manche is caught, eight inmates successfully scale the outer wall. Episode 22: "Flight"
