Microsoft Toolkit operates by simulating a KMS server locally on the user's machine. KMS is a legitimate Microsoft technology that allows organizations to activate multiple systems within a network without each system having to connect directly to Microsoft's activation servers. The toolkit takes advantage of this by creating a virtual KMS environment, tricking the operating system or Office suite into believing it is receiving a legitimate activation from an authorized server.
