Jumpstart is a national early education nonprofit organization that began in 1993 with just 15 college volunteers (called Corps members) working with 15 preschool children. The organization's mission has always been to break the cycle of poverty by helping young children in underserved communities develop the language and literacy skills they need for academic success. By 2013, over 4,300 Corps members were serving 11,000 preschool children, and the organization has only grown since. Annually, more than 4,000 college student and community volunteers serve in preschool classrooms across the country using Jumpstart’s evidence-based curriculum. Over the past five years, Jumpstart has impacted 120,000 children.
